About WTISD-HK

Strengthening Resilience in a Connected World

World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD) commemorates the founding of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) on 17 May 1865. As information and communication technologies (ICT), telecommunications, and the Internet have become ever more critical to socio-economic development, WTISD is celebrated through a series of events aimed at increasing public understanding of these technologies and how they interact with—and support—society.

With the full support from Communications Authority and generous sponsorships from the communications sector, the Communications Association of Hong Kong (“CAHK”) has been hosting the captioned since 2007, capitalizing on raising public awareness—especially among youth and the education sector—of how to protect digital system from disruption and keep it running smoothly. In today’s era of rapid technological growth, young people are not only users of technology but also innovators. Through industry open days, proposal competitions and other activities, they contribute boundless creativity to safeguarding our digital system.

The theme for WTISD 2026 is “Strengthening resilience in a connected world”. CAHK will once again join the Communications Authority and industry partners to stage the 16th World Telecommunication and Information Society Day Hong Kong (WTISD-HK 2026), seizing the opportunity to promote to the public—particularly young people and the academic community—the importance of “Strengthening Resilience in a Connected World”.
